Coeliac Awareness week takes place annually in the UK and this year it is from the 8-14th May. The 2017 aim? To campaign for better gluten-free food whether it’s eating out or a quick on-the-move snack. There are many instances where gluten-free options are either very limited or are very uninspiring. The team here at Paramount, along with other members of Coeliac UK, are keen to play a part in changing this in bars and restaurants across the country!

Coeliac disease is a lifelong autoimmune disease which is caused by the immune system reacting to gluten and provoking mild or severe symptoms. To make matters worse, coeliac disease is common and affects as many as 1 in 100 people1.

For someone with coeliac disease, eating out with friends or family isn’t straightforward. 80% of people with coeliac disease are the decision-makers when eating out with others and have the final vote on where to dine2.

Mac 'n' Cheese Bake

Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bake – gluten-free

We are working hard to develop gluten-free products to help meet the growing consumer demand, without compromising on appearance or taste. For example, we’ve reinvented the on-trend favourite Mac ‘n’ Cheese by using a gluten-free pasta with a rich and creamy cheddar cheese sauce.

Or, if you’re into seafood, there’s our fantastic melt-in-the-middle Florentine Fishcakes made with MSC smoked haddock, spinach and potatoes, filled with a rich creamy Cheddar cheese sauce and coated with gluten-free breadcrumbs.

Red Pepper, Bean & Aubergine Chilli Gluten-Free | Vegan

We have also put a delicious vegetarian twist on the classic chilli – we’ve created a rich earthy red pepper, bean and aubergine chilli which not only ticks the veggie box but is also gluten-free and suitable for vegans.

These three dishes and our other enticing gluten-free products have all been certified by Coeliac UK. So lookout for new gluten-free products, be aware and get involved!
