A big thanks to the team at Food Manufacture for featuring our Heathfield factory in the ‘Me and my factory’ feature of  Food Manufacture Magazine this month. It was great to meet Rod Addy (Deputy Editor) and the team enjoyed showing him our new facilities, processes, the 1m factory extension and how we are moving forwards with our sustainability and enviromental policies. Steve Lamont (Production Director) was interviewed about his time at Paramount and the future direction of the factory, he’s sporting a rather fetching hygine hairnet as well (Looking good Steve)

Why buy frozen fish?

All the many benefits of freshly frozen fish and seafood

Quick freezing fish seals in nutrients so it is often fresher than ‘fresh’ fish! Fish and seafood begins to decline in quality immediately after being caught, so freezing fish as soon as possible retains quality and seals in freshness. When fish is frozen at sea whilst still on board the boat it could not be fresher! Often fish is frozen in port hours are docking! How often is your ‘fresh’ fish this fresh?

Frozen food traditionally has a legacy of being poor quality and low value but times have changed and technology has advanced to enable freezing to take place earlier therefore capturing nutrients.  Frozen food enables you to only take what you will use so it also reduces unnecessary food waste which is a huge issue in this day and age.

Please feel free to ask questions regarding the fresh v frozen debate, we’d love to hear from you…

Here are some of the shots taken following Paramount 21′s visit to the Brixham Fish Market. It was great to meet the buyers, talk to the fisherman who supply our seafood and watch the mornings activities unfold. We are happy to announce the launch of our new range of products for Autumn Winter 2011/2. We have spent many months researching the trends, analysing market data and most importantly listening to our customers!

We developed products for ‘all day grazing’ such as Seeded Mackerel Bites and Cracked Pepper & Lemon Breaded Scallops as well as lively little 26g Mexican Fishcakes. As ethnic cuisine is one of the fastest growing cuisines in the UK we have also launched a 57g Paella Fishcake and a 70g Caribbean Spiced Fish Pattie into the range.

We’ve increased our MSC accredited products to indroduce sustainably sourced Mackerel and Hake Bites into the range as well as using locally sourced Cornish Whiting in our Patties.

Please take a peek at our new range and tell us what you think, we’d love to hear from you!
