BFFF Sustainability Leader Award Winner 2018!

We are delighted to announce that our colleague Brennan Green has won the Sustainability Leader Award at the 2018 BFFF (British Frozen Food Federation) People Awards.

Brennan has been involved with Paramount for nearly 20 years as an Advisor to the Board, and in that time has transformed the company’s environmental management with passion, dedication and persistence. With extensive experience in the food production industry, Brennan is an advocate for the importance of sustainability and implementing new business practices.

Under Brennan’s influence, social responsibility is now part of everyday life at Paramount and through dedicated teamwork we are able to achieve our sustainability goals. We focus on our role as a responsible and caring company and we continually look for ways to improve how we impact and interact with the world around us.

This strategy has resulted in many praiseworthy achievements including a project leading to a 98.6% reduction in packaging and the accreditation to ISO 14001-2015 standard.

Environment is a key part of this social responsibility commitment and the long term objective of the business has been to reduce its carbon impact relative to output. The rapid expansion of production has made meeting environmental targets challenging (although not impossible due to the dedication of the Environment Management Team).

One recent development we would like to shout about is our significantly reduced carbon emissions:

As of 1^st October 2017, Paramount moved over from ‘traditional’ electricity supplies in our main factory. Prior to the change, approximately 88% of our carbon emissions were due to use of non-renewable electricity: by making this change we have dramatically reduced our carbon impact!
